Linux bridging with a wifi network card

Wednesday 2 May 2007

If you ever want to try it, don’t, unless you have a prism card or want to waste your time. It will not work.

I’ve learned it myself this week after spending about 8h trying to setup a bridge between a qemu instance and my workstation connected to my LAN through a wifi network card. This is related to the card firmware not being able to send ethernet packets with a mac address different than the one of the card. Again, thanks closed source software!

I finnaly reverted to a routed setup.

See online : It doesn’t work with my Wireless card!
